Encroachments: CCMC chief to discuss issue with CO

Curchorem Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) Chairperson Sushant Naik will discuss the issue of encroachment on footpaths by street vendors with the chief officer, before taking necessary action on the obstructions.

According to sources, CCMC was to have taken necessary steps to curb footpath obstructions in Curchorem, but had failed to do so.

Sources said the street vendors sell their goods on footpath in Curchorem town without any hesitation.

When contacted, CCMC Chairperson Sushant Naik repeated his assurance to take action on the encroachments, after discussing the issue with the chief officer.

When brought to his notice that he had earlier assured to inspect and take action against footpath encroachments, Naik replied: “I was busy during the assembly elections.”

“I will discuss the issue with chief officer, who is at present busy with official training. Once he resumes duty, I will discuss the matter with him and steps will be taken to tackle encroachments on footpaths,” he added.
