The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) has released the merit list for the Bachelor of Engineering degree programme for admissions to engineering colleges in the State.

A total of 1,809 candidates have been listed, and the admission process will begin on Tuesday, July 1.

There are 1,500 engineering seats available across five institutions, which include the State-run Goa Engineering College (GEC) and private colleges – Padre Conceicao College of Engineering, Verna; Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda; Rayeshwar Institute of Engineering and Information Technology (RIEIT), Shiroda; and Agnel Institute of Technology and Design, Assagao.

The DTE has asked candidates listed in the merit list to report to their office at least half an hour before the scheduled time for admissions. All late and spot applicants must submit their applications to the DTE on July 5, the last day of admission, to be considered for any seats left vacant after the first round.

“Of these 1,800 students, many have also applied for NEET-based courses like medical, pharmacy, dental, and nursing. We will only know on July 5 how many students choose engineering seats,” a senior official said.

Over the past five years, many engineering seats in Goa have remained vacant, with 300 to 500 seats going unfilled each year. Last year, around 500 seats were left vacant, despite the State government relaxing the JEE requirement for engineering admissions.

In 2024, for the first time in almost twenty years, the government changed the admission process for engineering courses by scrapping the Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET) and introducing the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for admissions.
