Defending champions FC Goa Fan Club UK pulled off a stunning 3-1 comeback victory over Kerala Blasters FC Manjappadas to retain their Indian Superfans League title at Arbour Park, Slough Town in London on Sunday. The tournament was organised by the Bengal Heritage Foundation UK.
The Goan side, who have now lifted the title for the third time, were dealt an early blow when Kerala struck in the very first minute of the final. Despite creating multiple chances, FC Goa were unable to breach the Kerala defence in the first half and went into the break trailing 0-1.
However, the second half saw a complete turnaround. FC Goa came out with high intensity, hitting the woodwork twice before finally breaking through. With just five minutes remaining, Varel Lemos unleashed a stunning volley to equalise.
The momentum shifted completely as Varel added two more goals in quick succession, completing a sensational hat-trick and securing a dramatic win for the Gaurs.
For his match-winning performance, Varel Lemos was named Man of the Match, and also bagged the Top Scorer of the Tournament award.
