Entries invited for IFFI Indian Panorama

Panajir The registration process for delegates will also begin from August 1 onwards. rAddressing mediapersons on Friday, Director of Film Festivals C Senthil Rajan informed that, “From today, we have invited entries for the Indian Panorama section. The festival would be held from November 20-28. In the Indian Panorama section, we select a total of 26 feature and 21-non feature contemporary Indian films of cinematic, thematic and aesthetic excellence.” rSpeaking further, he said, “We have preponed the last date for certification by the censor board by a month. Till last year, we used to allow entries up to August 31. But this year, it will be till July 31. However, the last date for submitting entries online is August 7. The payment of fees will also now have to be made online. This will help in fast forwarding the selection process by at least 20-25 days. With this move, the completion of selection process is too close to the festival dates and it becomes difficult as far as logistics are concerned.” rFilms certified by CBFC or produced during the last 12 months preceding the festival are eligible for Indian Panorama 2017. Films not certified by CBFC and produced within this period can also be submitted. rOf the 26 feature films selected in Indian Panorama, two films will be recommended for the competition section of International Film Festival of India. Debut film of a Director selected for Indian Panorama 2016 will also be considered for the Centenary Award for the Best Debut Film of a Director proposed to be given in the 47th International Film Festival of India. rWhen asked about creating a permanent venue for IFFI, Entertainment Society of Goa Vice-Chairman Rajendra Talak said, “CM is very much interested. We had our meetings. If everything goes well, the 50th year of IFFI will be held within the new premises. Once this year’s film festival culminates by December, we will get a clear idea about the 50th year. With the new venue coming up, the number of films also will increase as the number of screens will also rise.”
