Environment Secretary Kunal IAS visited the heritage sites in Shristhal, a few weeks after the Biodiversity Management Committee (BMC) won the state biodiversity award.
According to BMC Chairman Vinay Tubki, Kunal had been keen to visit Shristhal and interact with the BMC.
“The environment secretary, his wife Suman Goyal, IPS, their daughter and BMC executive members Shirish Pai and Damodar Chari started the day with bird watching at Chapoli Dam early Monday morning and later visited the nearby proposed heritage site at Ghodya Paik of Gulem,” said Tubki.
A meeting was then convened with BMC members and Sarpanch Ganesh Gaonkar at the traditional place ‘Gharvoi’ in Gulem.
Kunal’s day-long itinerary also led him to visit Shree Mallikarjune Temple and had an interaction with the traditional healer, Kanta Gayak, at Shristhal.
Kunal and his family were then treated to traditional lunch at the house of BMC member Shirish Pai.
Later in the evening, they were given a feel of traditional village hospitality at an eco-resort in Agonda.
“Kunal took interest in the working of the BMC and provided the members with suggestions on various activities as for plans and projects of the Shristhal BMC,” said Tubki.
