Escaped suspect back in custody

MARGAO: The Margao police nabbed one Irshad Sangur, who had allegedly escaped twice from judicial custody.

According to Margao police, the suspect had escaped twice from judicial custody - once on August, 14, 2014 and the second time on April 9, 2015 - while he was being produced before the court.

Police said a case was registered against the suspect while he was absconding. However, police said the suspect was in the custody of Karnataka police and was released on December 28. Once he was released by Karnataka police, the Margao police took him into custody and later arrested him. He has been booked for offence committed under Section 224 of IPC. Further investigations are in progress.
