A workshop on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) was held at The Fern Kadamba Hotel, Bainguinim, Old Goa, ahead of the 2027 Goa Assembly elections.
The workshop was organised ahead of the First Level Checking (FLC) of EVMs and VVPATs, scheduled from August 17 to 31 at two locations across the state.
Senior Deputy Election Commissioner, Election Commission of India, Maneesh Garg and Goa Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Goel inaugurated the workshop. District Election Officers, Additional District Magistrates (Election), District EVM Nodal Officers, FLC supervisors and Electoral Registration Officers attended the programme.
Experts provided training on EVM and VVPAT operations, randomisation, commissioning, polling, counting and post-counting procedures. Participants also received hands-on training and were briefed on technical, administrative and security safeguards.
Engineers demonstrated the machines and conducted a doubt-clearing session and evaluation exercise. Garg also reviewed preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections with the Chief Electoral Officer and State Police Nodal Officer.
