He was speaking at a felicitation function that was organised by the Belagavi Diocese at the Bishop’s House on Tuesday.
More was instrumental in getting financial and medical support for two women of Goan origin, who were suffering from GB Syndorme, which requires expensive treatment. More and team were instrumental in supporting Perpet Fernandes and Rita Lima who survived the dreaded disease. “Services to community are like services to God. Humanity and services to society is the prime teaching of every society. Hence, every person irrespective of caste, creed, religion or language rendering selfless humanitarian services must be felicitated so that more people are encouraged to come forward,” said Bishop Machado, who lauded More and members of Atharva foundation.
Replying to his felicitation, More urged people to come forward and support patients suffering from GB Syndrome.
“This is not only my felicitation, but the felicitation of those who have been working with me for the betterment of society. I appeal to the government to come forward and take a serious note of GB Syndrome cases and work out some scheme to ensure cheaper medicines and treatment facilities,” More said.
He also urged Goans visiting Belagavi to contact the foundation for any health-related problems.
Former Mayor Satish Gorgonda, Girgol Rodrigues, Jerome Andrade, Xavier Gonsalves, Menin Rodrigues and Santan D’mello were among others present at the function.
