Alexyz caricatures of 100 great Konkani Tiatrists, who made rich contribution to tiatr was unveiled at the Ravindra bhavan, Margao with the Goa’s best known caricature artist saying that Tiatr should find a place in the Guinness Book of records.
He also disclosed plans to donate the caricatures of the 104 tiatrists to any institution which will house it permanently so that they remains for the younger generation to see the contribution of the Tiatrists of yesteryears. Ravindra bhavan Chairman Prashant Naik said he would certainly place his offer before his committee to allot a place for these caricatures.
“These are the guys who all contributed to bring Tiatr to the present level during the last 125 years and protect Goan identity. I thought like why not do these caricatures on these great artists and honour them and pay my tributes for their work. The 125th Anniversary of Tiatr Celebrating Committee have also published a book on these caricatures along with the details of these tiatrists”, Alexyz said
Asked how he got involved with this particular work when he must have created thousands of caricatures in his career, Alexyz said “I was emotionally involved in this work. Since I was born in Mumbai, my initial knowledge of Tiatr began when my uncle used to sing Kid Boxer’s song at the parties”.
Saying that Tiatr should find a place in the Guinness book of records, Alexyz added, “nowhere in the world, right from England to India, there’s a huge following for this form of art. This does not happen anywhere in the world.”
