Ex-MGP MLA’s plea against party polls dismissed

PANAJI

The Bombay High Court at Goa has dismissed a petition filed by former MLA Lavoo Mamledar who had challenged the internal elections held by the MGP in which Deepak Dhavalikar was re-elected as party president.

Earlier the High Court had ruled that any action that the Maharashtra Gomantak Party takes with regard to the conduct of internal elections will be subject to any orders that the court will pass and the ultimate outcome of the petition.

Mamledar has been raging against the party claiming the lack of internal democracy and had alleged that incumbent party president Deepak Dhavalikar was illegally occupying the chair.

Lavoo has also claimed that he was illegally removed from his post as General Secretary and from the party entirely.

Lavoo has also claimed that the party has not held elections for the last six years except in 2017 to give himself and his executive committee an extension of two years.

Meanwhile, the petition filed by MGP chief Sudin Dhavalikar challenging the order of the Speaker dismissing his disqualification petition against the two party’s MLAs who defected to the BJP will be heard by a special bench of the Bombay High Court after Justice Mahesh Sonak recused from hearing the petition.
