Ex-minister says people, entire India looking for a change

MARGAO
Former Minister Mickky Pacheco on Tuesday said he has decided to support the INDIA bloc candidate for the South Goa seat since the people are now looking for a change.

He told the media outside the PWD, Water Supply office here on Tuesday where he had come to gherao the engineers over inaction against restaurants consuming water sans connections, Mickky said, “It is not the Congress party he is supporting, but he is for the INDIA bloc.”

Reminding that he had supported the BJP by organising a massive meeting at Nuvem in 2014, Mickky said the entire country was looking for a change 10 years ago and hence had brought the BJP to power in that election. “Social and political activists under the leadership of Ana Hazare had started the movement India Against Corruption which brought to an end the Congress regime in 2014. Now, 10 years later, the people of the country are looking for a change. I have decided to support Captain Viriato Fernandes not as a Congress candidate, but a candidate of the INDIA bloc,” he said.

Pointing out that he was raided by the Income Tax officials in 2014, Mickky said he is still fighting the case in the court of law, saying he has filed an appeal before a higher court only recently.

To a question, Mickky said the INDIA bloc once they come to power should put behind bars all those who were involved in corruption during the BJP regime.

Asked how much lead will Captain Viriato gain in the minority dominated Nuvem constituency, Mickky said, It’s the people who will come and give the lead, saying it is his duty to convince the people to come and vote for the INDIA bloc candidate.

The former Minister along with residents had gheraod the PWD, Water Supply officials for their failure to act against those who are running a restaurant without having proper water supply connection.
