Former Canacona MLA Vijay Poi Khot was among the 15 persons who tested positive on Thursday, as Covid cases crossed the 300-mark in Canacona taluka.
According to Health sources, Khot along with 14 others tested positive and the former MLA has opted for home quarantine for a period of 17 days.
With the 15 new cases detected on Thursday, the overall total of Covid infections reached 302 in Canacona taluka.
Three cases are detected at Mudkud-Agonda, a milk vendor from Poinguinim, a policeman from Mastimoll working in Valpoi, a couple and another person from Shristhal and four persons from Canacona municipality were among those who tested positive on Thursday.
While only a few patients have been admitted at the Farmagudi Covid Care Centre, most others are under home quarantine for 17 days, sources informed.
Incidentally, several positive cases have recovered during the last few days and presently there are 119 active cases in the taluka.
