Former Vice-chairperson of Margao Municipal Council and general secretary of Mathgramastha Hindu Sabha, Narayan Damodar Pai Fondekar, passed away on Sunday at Belagavi following a cardiac arrest. He was 71.
The last rites were performed at the Mathgramastha Hindu Sabha, Margao, on Monday evening.
Besides being an ex-councillor of MMC and General Secretary of Mathgramastha Hindu Sabha, he was a committee member of Shree Kamaxi Saunsthan, Shiroda, President of Solid Party Trust, Margao, and an active member of Zambaulim Shigmo celebrations.
Meanwhile, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat said he was pained by the sudden passing away of his friend, Narayan Pai Fondekar
“Margao has lost a selfless social worker. Popularly known as Nana, he was near and dear to one and all and was a helping hand to everyone,” Kamat said.
