Former Margao Municipal vice-chairperson Gokuldas Shanu Shirodkar passed away on Wednesday after a brief illness.
He was 73 and is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
Gokuldas was closely associated with the promotion of Kho Kho in the State. He was the ex-Chairman of the Goa Kho Kho Association for eight long years.
He had unsuccessfully contested against former minister Babu Naik in Margao on the MGP banner.
He was the vice president of the Kho Kho Federation of India from 2013 to 2021.
Gokuldas was awarded JIVBADAD KERKAR AWARD for promoting Kho Kho. He was also closely associated with the Kabbadi and Softball associations.
The funeral will leave his Housing Board, Gogol-Margao residence at 12 noon on May 25.
Former GPCC president Girish Chodankar has condoled the death of Gokuldas Shirodkar, saying Goa has lost a social worker and a promoter of sports.
