Ex-parte orders: Comunidade forum welcomes govt inquiry

MARGAO

The South Goa Comunidades Forum has welcomed the government’s decision to inquire into all cases of ex-parte orders passed against comunidades in agricultural tenancy matters.

Welcoming the government’s decision as conveyed in a LAQ reply by the Revenue Minister in the recently concluded Assembly session, Secretary of South Goa Comunidades Forum, Savio Correia said: “We welcome the decision to initiate an inquiry into all the cases of ex-parte orders passed against the comunidades, most of which are due to the Attorney either giving consent or abstaining from the proceedings thereby permitting the same to proceed ex-parte against the comunidade."

He said the forum further welcomes the government’s decision to initiate appropriate criminal and disciplinary action against the errant comunidade attorneys, saying such an action would serve as a deterrent to others.

“The neglect and lackadaisical attitude of the Administrators of Comunidades must be investigated and appropriate action taken. Mamlatdars and Deputy Collectors ought to be sensitized on the issue,” Correia added.
