Four killed in 3 mishaps

MARGAO

Four, including two cousin brothers, lost their lives in three separate road accidents in the jurisdiction of Cuncolim police station on a single day on Monday.

Cuncolim police informed that two cousin brothers from Chandor, both in their 20s, lost their lives in a road accident at Sarzora in the wee hours of Monday.

In another road accident, a 19-year-old motorcycle rider, Cyrus Pereira, a resident of Durga-Chinchinim died in an accident at Chinchinim on Monday noon. A cyclist who was injured in the accident at Chinchinim is battling for life at GMC Bambolim.

In the third fatal accident, an occupant of a motorcycle expired in a mishap near the Cuncolim bus stand in the evening.

Sarzora

Cuncolim police station in-charge PI Tukaram Chawan informed that the accident at Sarzora took place in the wee hours of Monday. He said an Activa rider, Sarfaraz Bepari, 27, and the pillion rider, Nazil Bepari, 23, both residents of Culsabhat-Chandor were killed in an accident near the Holy Cross Chapel, Sarzora.

Cuncolim police informed that the accident occurred at around 2.50 am when the duo were travelling on the Activa scooter and the rider lost control of the two-wheeler and went to the extreme left corner of the road and dashed against a tree. The Police said as a result of the accident, both the rider Sarfaraj Bepari and the pillion rider Nazil Bepari succumbed to their injuries at the South Goa District Hospital, Margao.

PI Chawan informed that the duo, who are cousins, were running a restaurant at Varca and were returning home in the wee hours of Monday. Further investigations are in progress.

Chinchinim

In the second accident, the Cuncolim PI informed that the motorcycle rider, 19-year-old Cyrus Pereira, a resident of Durga-Chinchinim, succumbed to injuries after his two-wheeler was involved in an accident with a cyclist. The cyclist Rajpal Oraon, 24, a native of Jharkhand, also sustained injuries in the accident while he was crossing the road near a hardware and plywood shop at Chinchinim.

Both the cyclist and the rider sustained grievous injuries. The rider of the motorcycle succumbed to his injuries and was declared as brought dead at the South Goa district Hospital in Margao.

The cyclist has been shifted to the GMC Bambolim and is undergoing further treatment.

Cuncolim

In yet another fatal road accident reported in the jurisdiction of the Cuncolim police station, an occupant of a motorcycle expired in a mishap near the Cuncolim bus stand on Monday evening.

Cuncolim police station in-charge PI Tukaram Chawan informed that the police are verifying whether the deceased was riding the motorcycle or was pillion riding.

The deceased is believed to have died in an accident involving the motorcycle and a car and another motorcycle. The accident has left three others injured, PI Chawan informed.
