OLD GOA
Former State Election Commissioner (SEC) Narayan Navti has demanded a probe into a person employed as Upper Division Clerk (UDC) in the Town and Country Planning (TCP) department and action initiated against the UDC as per the laws in force.
Addressing reporters in Panaji on Thursday, Navti informed that in 2021 he received complaints from TCP staff that the UDC was harassing them.
“After the complaint, I tried to intervene but the harassment continued. Later, I filed an RTI asking for documents submitted by the UDC and to my shock found that the said person had produced a fake birth certificate while being recruited in which it states that he was born on September 5, 1963.
“However, when I checked with his school, the records show his birth date as September 5, 1962,” stated Navti, while adding that because of two different birth certificates, the said UDC refused promotion as Office Superintendent twice.
Further, Navti informed the birth certificate of 1962 was registered on April 29, 1967 while the other birth certificate was registered on March 13, 1990 by stating that he is illiterate when, in fact, he had passed BCom in 1989.
“So, as per his real birth certificate which is September 5, 1962 he should have retired in September, 2022 but he continues in service illegally.”
