PANAJI: The state government has decided to extend the last day for filing of suggestions and objections to the Regional Plan 2021 by 18 days. RP 2021 was re-opened on December 1 with a notification allowing people to give their suggestions by December 30.

Owing to overflowing suggestions at the Town and Country Planning (TCP)office, the state government decided to extend the last day to January 18, 2016. So far the department has received over 2,000 applications with many more expected in the extended days.

TCP on Tuesday alone received 500 applications. The last time the plan had been opened for suggestions, back in 2010, the department received over 3,000 applications.

Since the government had announced December 30 as the last day for feedback, the department saw a significant increase in responses coming to the TCP’s Patto office which is the sole location for submission of suggestions/objections.

The plan had initially been on display at the TCP’s taluka offices along with a list of previously received suggestions and objections. Following questions from villages, the TCP resolved to allow each panchayat to collect a copy of the plan which they could display at their respective panchayats.

Following this move, the TCP received a flood entries forcing the government to allow the general public enough time to submit their entries of suggestions and objections.
