Former Union Minister Ramakant Khalap said that due to failure in the implementation of Mundkar law and other land reform laws the Goan land is getting sold.
Khalap, who has turned 75, was felicitated at the hands of former Union Minister Suresh Prabhu at the Institute of Menezes Braganza hall. While speaking at the function, Khalap said, "With the influx of immigrants, there is no land in possession of original Goans. As Mundkar law and tenancy was not implemented, the lands have been sold faster. Even the government land is getting sold."
"I am a strong protagonist of Marathi language as I believe that beyond language and area, there is something called culture. In Belagavi, Karwar, Goa for the preservation of culture, the preservation of Marathi is essential. If we don't preserve our language at the primary level, then we will create robots without feelings. Marathi language has a major role to play in the development of people," he said.
Khalap said that Marathi should also be given the status of State language and it should be used for official purposes.
