Fake job scams: New arrest made in Ponda

Panaji: Ponda police have arrested Prakash Rane for allegedly cheating a resident of Pernem to the tune of Rs 40 lakhs under pretext of providing government job.

Just two days earlier, Pooja Naik, a resident of Old Goa, was arrested for defrauding a family in Curti of Rs 14 lakh in a similar offence

Naik had claimed she could secure jobs for two family members: one in the Public Works Department as a Junior Engineer and another as a Lower Division clerk

PORVORIM: Domingos Antonio D’Souza of Nigvaddo-Saligao had lodged a complaint on April 22 stating that his tenant Arun Lamani (21) of Bagalkot-Karnataka took his mobile phone and made a transaction amounting to Rs 1,20,000 to an unknown person’s account through an online payment mode after installing a UPI payment app on the phone.
