Falari steps down as Mapusa chief

Sandeep Falari resigned as chairperson of Mapusa Municipal Council on Monday after serving for the last two-and-half years. Falari submitted his resignation to the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA).


MAPUSA: 
Speaking to the media, Falari said his decision to step down was based on an agreement among the ruling group, so that another councillor would get to serve.  
“After seven days, my resignation letter will be accepted and a new chairperson will be elected,” he added.   
Falari acknowledged the support from various leaders saying, “While serving as chairperson, I got support from Urban Development Minister Francis D’souza, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, former CM Parsekar and all councilors. The MMC officers and staff also cooperated towards the development of the city,” said Falari.  TGN

MMC officials inspect unsafe Vasco bldg

Claiming that the dilapidated MMC building housing the Goa Sahakar Bhandar at Vasco had already been declared as unsafe, the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) has decided to send a notice to the management to evict from the perilous premises.
