The national president of Indian National Congress Sonia Gandhi has nominated former Goa Pradesh Congress Party president and present MLA of Navelim constituency Luizinho Faleiro to represent her at the forthcoming 11th FRELIMO Congress at Maputo in Mozambique.

Sonia Gandhi was invited by Filipe Jacinto Nyusi for the Frelimo Congress being held between September 26 and October 1. The Mozambique Liberation Front (FRELIMO), from the Portuguese Frente de Libertação de Moçambique is the dominant political party in Mozambique. Founded in 1962, FRELIMO began as a nationalist movement fighting for the independence of the Portuguese Overseas Province of Mozambique. The Indian National Congress (INC) will send its wishes along with Faleiro and recall the solidarity the Indian National Congress has with the people of Mozambique in their struggle against colonisation through Indira Gandhi and later Rajiv Gandhi. Faleiro has been chosen in view of his experience and background as well as his knowledge of Portuguese.
A petition filed by Ramkrishna Desai has challenged the State government's recent amendments to the Goa Agricultural Tenancy Act which seeks to transfer tenancy cases back from civil courts to mamlatdar courts. Desai's petition is scheduled to be heard by the High Court on Tuesday pitching for civil courts hearing the cases.
