A farmer from Margawada-Netravali suffered heavy losses to his paddy field due to heavy rains in the village on Wednesday.
Incidentally, Raju Gopal Gaonkar has undertaken the agricultural plantation despite having physical disabilities as he had no other work or source of income.
“My paddy field was about to be harvested in another 15 days. Before the paddy could be harvested and taken home, heavy rains damaged the paddy field,” said Gaonkar.
On being informed of the loss to the paddy field, Netravali Panch Rakhi Prabhudessai along with the talathi visited Gaonkar’s paddy field and prepared an estimate of the loss suffered by Gaonkar.
“We will submit a report to the Sanguem Mamlatdar and also the agriculture department for compensation to Gaonkar,” said Prabhudessai.
