Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza informed that chances are bright that work on the Ravindra Bhavan could start soon in Mapusa, as new land has been identified for the project at Cunchelim, Mapusa.D’Souza also said he has written to Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude about the proposal.
“We have identified comunidade land in Cunchelim for the Ravindra Bhavan project. Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude along with officials of the department are expected to inspect the site very soon,” D’Souza said.
According to Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude, his first preference for construction of a Ravindra Bhavan in the State will be for Mapusa.
“The issue in Mapusa is finding suitable land for construction of the Ravindra Bhavan which will be a big project. We will soon visit the place to inspect the new site which has been identified and accordingly take a decision,” Gaude said.
Earlier, a site opposite to the Bodgeshwar Temple was selected to construct the Ravindra Bhavan on an area of around 40,000 sq mts of land in survey number 1 and 2.
The Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) was also asked to prepare a detailed project report for the project.
But the plan had to be shelved after some farmers refused to part away with their tenanted land and approached the courts.
