Farmers dependent on canal water for irrigation will see water released in the canal system across the State on November 15.
Water Resources Department (WRD) Minister Subhash Shirodkar on Monday reiterated his resolve to release canal water across the State on November 15.
He directed senior WRD officials to deploy personnel to ensure that there’s no breach in the canal network and that the water reaches the fields of the farmers on November 15.
“I have already handed out a promise to the farmers that the canal water will be released on November 15. I do not want to go back on my promise since I have made a commitment to the farmers,” he told the WRD officials, with a direction to inspect the canal network by November 12 so that the water is finally released on November 15.
