Farmers offer thanksgiving prayers at Cotarli after win
A group of farmers from Sanguem agitating against the proposed IIT project at Cotarli village offer a litany at the Holy Cross in Kharkhatiaghati-Sanguem on Tuesday.

Farmers from Sanguem who had been agitating against the proposed IIT project at Cotarli village in Sanguem on Tuesday offered a litany at the Holy Cross in Kharkhatiaghati-Sanguem in thanksgiving for their win and getting the project shunted out from their agricultural plantations for the second time.

The farmers thanked the media support and all social organisations and activists who supported them during the agitation.

Incidentally, despite the central government not considering the proposed site at Cotarli, Sanguem MLA Subhash Phaldessai is determined that the proposed will come up in Sanguem itself.

Speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration of hot mixing work at Netravali on Tuesday morning, Phaldessai once again reiterated that the IIT project will be commissioned at Sanguem and said if the Cotarli site is not favourable, he has other options open for the project in Sanguem.

A few weeks ago, residents from Uguem had convened a meeting to oppose the IIT project in Uguem village after there were rumours that Phaldessai along with the Uguem Sarpanch had reportedly visited agricultural lands in Uguem village to ascertain the viability of getting the project at Uguem.

The villagers have already sounded their opposition to the project in their village.
