Farmers in Karnataka staged a rally in Belagavi to oppose acquisition of land for the Belagavi-Goa NH4A bypass and to demand the withdrawal of the farm laws.
Addressing farmers during the 'Raita Mahapanchayat' convention of farmers under the leadership of Bharat Kisan Morcha at CPED ground in Belagavi, Yuddhaveer Singh, leader of Bharat Kisan Morcha, accused the central government of trying to snatch the rights of farmers.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to sell the entire country and it is high time that farmers unite, irrespective of the cast, religion to remove the Modi government from power.”
“This government is in favour of capitalists. If you cannot participate in the Delhi protest, then protest in large numbers at Bengaluru,” he appealed to the farmers.
Farmer’s leader Rakesh Tikait said the government must withdraw its three farm laws.
“We have laid siege in Delhi by going in tractors. Farmers here should lay siege at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi.”
“Godowns have been constructed before the central government passed the laws, which prove that the government is in favours of corporates. The farmer's protest will continue until the central government withdraws all three farm laws,” said Tikayat.
