The stage is set for the Shigmo float parade in the commercial capital organised by the Margao Shigmotsav Samiti at the Opinion Poll Square on Sunday evening.
Samiti President Yatin Faldesai said the parade, which will begin at around 6 pm at the Old Market Circle will culminate at the Damodar Ling temple near the Nehru stadium.
He said that attractive prizes await the winner of the Margao float parade, which is the highest in the state. Faldesai said the winners of Romtamel competition can take home cash prizes of Rs 60,000, Rs 40,000 and 25,000 for first three places.
Similarly, winners of the Chitrarath will hope to win cash prizes Rs 60,000, Rs 40,000 and 25,000 for the first three prizes respectively. Also five consolation prizes worth Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000, Rs 12,000, Rs 10,000 respectively. The parade will also consist of a fancy dress competition in three categories. Fancy dress will begin at 4.30 pm. “The first three winners in the Individual Fancy Dress Senior can hope to win cash prizes of Rs 7,000, Rs. 5,000 and Rs 3,000. Individual Fancy Dress Junior for which the first three places get Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,500 respectively. Sub-Junior Fancy Dress for which the first three places get Rs 2,500, Rs 1,500 and Rs 1,000.”
