Canacona: A car driver lost his life after colliding head-on with a Kadamba Bus on NH66 at Maxem (Loliem), this morning.
The driver, identified as Rajesh Vernekar, was travelling towards Canacona, while the bus was headed to Karwar.
According to witnesses, the Kadamba bus driver halted the vehicle upon noticing the approaching car at high speed. Despite the bus driver's attempt to stop, the car crashed into the bus, leading to his instant death. Six other car occupants sustained injuries, two of whom are in critical condition.
They are admitted to South Goa District Hospital. No injuries were sustained by the passengers on board the Kadamba bus.
Locals alleged that due to the delayed arrival of the ambulance and police at the scene, they took matters into their own hands, breaking open the car doors to rescue the injured.
