FDA raids sweet mfg units, destroys sweets, farsan worth Rs 3.5 lakh

In view of the ensuing Diwali festival, a team of Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) officials inspected two farsan and sweet manufacturing units at Pilerne and destroyed sweets and farsan worth Rs 3.5 lakh, which were reportedly found to be prepared under unhygienic conditions.
According to a press note, the FDA officials inspected M/s Amrut Vaushnav and M/s Balu Singh at Pilerne in Bardez operating without FSSAI license under unhygienic conditions. A total stock of sweets and farsan worth Rs 3.5 lakh manufactured under such non-compliant conditions was immediately destroyed in the interest of public health.
The FDA team led by designated officer North Goa Richard Noronha and senior Food Safety Officer Rajiv Korde along with Food Safety Officer Sneha Sawant, staff Sudhakar Parsekar and Arjun Naik conducted the drive.
