FDA shuts down four food outlets in Morjim

The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) shut down four food outlets for operating unhygienic operations at Morjim.

An FDA team conducted a drive and inspected 21 premises at Vittaldas Wado, Mardi Wada and Madla Wada in Morjim. While four outlets were directed to close down operations due to unhygienic operations, all others were served improvement notices with directions to comply within 14 days.

Two premises were also fined Rs 2,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively for using newspapers in wrapping food articles.

The team, comprising Richard Noronha, Yogita Sirsat, Bhakit Walke, Ram Dhuri, Amit Mandrekar and Lenin de Sa, worked under the guidance of FDA Director Shweta Desai.
