The Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) has suspended its safety officer, Vishwasrao Rane, and ordered disciplinary proceedings. While the reason for the suspension is concealed, FDA Director Shweta Dessai has directed the officer to report to the head office till further orders.
“A disciplinary proceeding against Vishwasrao Rane, the food safety officer, is contemplated... Rane is placed under suspension with immediate effect. It is further ordered that during the period this order shall remain in force, the headquarters of Rane shall be at the Directorate of Food & Drugs Administration, Bambolim, and the said food safety officer shall not leave the headquarters without obtaining the previous permission of the undersigned,” reads the order by Director Dessai, on Monday.
