Devotees from all walks of life participated in the annual feast of Our Lady of Milagres at St Jerome’s Church, Mapusa on Monday.
The famous feast, which is celebrated on the third Monday after Easter, draws in devotees and pilgrims from across the State and neighbouring states as they offer oil, flowers and candles to the statue Our Lady of Milagres, who carries the infant Jesus in her arms.
The feast mass was celebrated at 10 am by Fr Simon Rico Fernandes OFM,Capuchin. Other masses were celebrated at 5, 6.15, 7.30 and 8.45 (English) in the morning and at 4 and 5.15 in the evening.
Our Lady of Milagres is also venerated by the Hindu community as they believe that she is the sister of Goddess Lairai of Shirgao.
