Anjuna Police on Wednesday arrested the fifth accused involved in the tourist assault case in Anjuna hotel.
The accused Salim Kasim Khan (41), a resident of Khorlim, Mapusa was apprehended by Mapusa SDPO Jivba Dalvi and handed over to the Anjuna Police.
According the Mapusa SDPO, he was travelling from Porvorim to his office in Mapusa when he suddenly saw the accused on his Yamaha bike also moving towards Mapusa on the NH-66. “I detained the accused at Guirim at around 2 pm and later handed him over to the Anjuna police,” Dalvi said.
Earlier, Anjuna Police had arrested four accused in the case who have been remanded to eight days police custody.
Dalvi informed that since the involvement of fifth accused has come to light Sections 143, 147, 148 r/w 149 IPC have been adduced to the crime.
The incident happened on March 5 and Anjuna Police had initially registered the case under Section 324 and 504 r/w 34 IPC.
