The Health Minister on Tuesday said a file will be put up before Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to initiate action against those private hospitals which failed to extend help to Covid patients during the second wave.
“The Chief Minister has already announced that the government will initiate action against the private hospitals which failed to comply with government’s Covid directives,” he said while speaking to the media on the sidelines of a function at Curtorim to honour Covid warriors attached to the Curtorim Primary Health Centre.
The Health Minister and Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco felicitated the Covid warriors and had a word of praise for Dr Vallabh Curtorim and the entire team of doctors, nurses, paramedics and multi-tasking staff who worked tirelessly to fight the pandemic.
Health Director Dr Jose D’Sa and Dr Rajendra Borkar were also present.
The Health Minister assured the contract nurses and MTS workers that the government will regularize their services within 3-4 months. He said the BJP government does not believe in use-and-throw policy.
The Health Minister stressed on 100 per cent vaccination to ensure that the death rate comes down to zero every day. “The current death rate has come down to either zero or one or two deaths a day, but the cases have not come down. To ensure that the people are protected from the virus, the only way is to ensure 100 per cent vaccination,” he said.
Informing that Goa has registered around 11 lakh vaccination to date, the HM, however, lamented that not many are coming forward to take the second dose and appealed to people to do so.
Curtorim Health Officer Dr Vallabh dished out the statistics of the PHC during the pandemic. The PHC conducted around 4476 tests to date, vaccinated 25174 people and distributed kits to 1907 infected patients.
