Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira on Tuesday announced that road repair work, which had been halted due to rains, has recommenced, with Shetya-vaddo, Mapusa, being taken up first.

“We have commenced work in Shetya-vaddo which is the continuation of the hotmixing of the dug-up roads that were to be repaired before monsoon. I have instructed the officials to start work in Shetya-vaddo on preference. I had inaugurated it and then it rained and the work had to be halted. People suffered and have endured and hence I had insisted to the engineer that if you don’t do it we will go to court. Soon after the rains stopped I was assured that work would start. I had inspected the work in the morning,” Ferreira said.

He added that two more stretches will be taken up on preference before other pending works across the constituency are undertaken.

“The second stretch in Bilou where the road had completely deteriorated will be taken up. The road had washed off due to the water flow due to the slope, so we are doing that work too. Then in Paliem, Ucassaim people have been put to hardship. I was getting repeated messages to undertake repairs but we could not do anything due to the rains. These are on preference and then other stretches will be taken up on priority and will complete all pending roads in Aldona constituency,” he said.
