Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho said the Customs Museum at Panaji, which will be one of its kind in India, will be inaugurated by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on June 11.
Godinho was speaking to reporters after a maha sabha and public meeting at Dabolim in the presence of PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral, former MP Narendra Sawaikar, former Fatorda MLA Damodar Naik, Sancoale ZP Anita Thorat and others.
"The customs, excise and GST museum will be inaugurated on June 11 by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. All phases of taxes, right from the inception of levying of taxes in India to the phase where all taxes have culminated into indirect taxes called GST, have been explained in detail to create awareness to the people on how taxes are collected, how it will benefit them in return and how taxes are utilised for development and the betterment of the nation,” said Godinho.
“All these topics are explained in detail at this museum and people must visit the museum after inauguration so that they get more information and knowledge of tax. This will also become a major tourist attraction because this is the only one of its kind in the country," said Godinho.
