SANGUEM
All the 43 candidates who have contested from the 10 wards of Sanguem Municipal Council have kept their fingers crossed and are optimistic of results going in their favour at the counting which is scheduled on Monday April 26 at Government Sports Complex Sanguem.
Assistant Returning Officer for Sanguem Municipal Council Manoj Korgaonkar informed that counting for SMC elections will be held in two rounds and for the purpose a total number of six tables are laid of which one will be kept in reserve for recounting, in case of tie or in the event of any party seeking recounting.
In the first round, counting of Ward No 1 to 5 will be taken up followed by counting of Ward No 6 to 10 in the second round.
Each counting table will be manned by three staff members with a total number of 60 staff members being deployed for the purpose.
Incidentally, while BJP have claimed to have fielded candidates in all the ten wards of Sanguem Municipal Council, the party has not declared the names of its candidates as of now and it now needs to be seen as to which candidate, the BJP embraces once the results are out.
The fact however remains that prior to elections, BJP had a secret meeting at the residence of one of the party office bearer at Temchowaddo Sanguem with their chosen ten candidates. However the names were not made public even after the meeting.
