A fire broke out once again at the Government Dairy Farm at Coporde-Sattari, causing damage to biological resources and PVC pipes within the premises.
According to reports, the fire started suddenly in dry grass within the farm premises, which is under the purview of the animal husbandry department, at around 5 pm on Tuesday.
Farm workers initially attempted to control the flames, but due to strong winds, the fire spread rapidly to nearby areas.
As the situation escalated, the Valpoi fire station was alerted. Firefighters rushed to the scene and, after nearly two hours of intense efforts, brought the fire completely under control.
A significant quantity of dry grass was destroyed in the fire, and PVC pipes installed in the farm were also damaged. Fire department sources confirmed that while the loss is estimated at Rs 15,000, property worth about Rs 25,000 was saved due to timely intervention.
Notably, a similar fire incident had occurred at the same farm just 8 to 10 days ago, causing substantial damage to dry grass and other materials.
Though no one has been hurt in both incidents, the recurrence of fire within such a short span has raised concern among local residents. Questions are being raised whether the fire incidents are accidental or deliberate.
Locals have also questioned the farm management, suggesting that adequate preventive measures should have been taken after the previous incident.
The repeated occurrence has led to doubts about lapses in maintenance and safety oversight. Citizens have demanded a thorough inquiry and necessary preventive steps to avoid such incidents in the future.
