Fire destroys goods worth Rs 2.2L at Porvorim flat

Property worth Rs. 2.20 lakh was destroyed in a fire on the first floor of Bhobe Apartment at Chogm road, Porvorim, on Tuesday afternoon.

Fire officials received a call at around 1.15 pm alerting them of a fire at a flat which belongs to Serven Fernandes. The flat was locked at the time, prompting firefighters to break open the door to gain access.

They extinguished the flames and prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent units. The damaged property included a laptop, sofa set, curtains, and other household goods. The firefighters managed to save property valued at Rs 1.5 lakh. The exact cause of fire is yet to be ascertained.

Firefighters Prasad Sawant, Ulhas Kamat, and Mahesh Korgaonkar assisted Sub Officer Mukund Gawandi in extinguishing the blaze.
