A fire broke out in a Shree Vasuprada Polyfilm Private Limited factory from Karaswada industrial estate near Mapusa causing a loss of worth Rs 70 lakh.

The main machine costing around Rs 40 lakh used for printing was charred due to fire.

As per the information received from the Fire department, the fire broke out at around 1.30 pm on Monday. The spark from the machine led to a fire when the workers were printing on plastic using the main machine with 8 different open bottles of inflammable paints.

The workers were printing plastic stickers for bank and other organisations.

When the fire broke out around 70 workers were working inside the factory who ran away after the fire broke out.

Fire department officer Shivaji Naik, Vasudev Tate, Nitin Mayeenkar, Dilip Sawant and Eprimo Dias controlled the fire and prevented it from spreading to other stored chemicals. If the fire has erupted then the neighbouring industries would have been also affected by the fire.

The factory temporary in-charge Subhash Dubey said that around Rs 70 lakh loss has been estimated due

to the burning of main machine, plastic material, sealing, liquids.

The Karwaswada industrial estate officer Mukund Kaisuvkar and Agnelo Fernandes inspected the site after getting information about the fire.
