A minor fire in a garment shop at Margao’s New Market gave some anxious moments on Sunday noon after news spread that a business establishment  in the market area is engulfed by fire.

The Margao fire brigade rushed to the spot upon receiving a call and extinguished the fire. The loss of property by the fire incident is being assessed.

Fire personnel informed that that the fire brigade received a call that smoke is billowing from a clothing and garment shop styled as Manyavar located behind the Lily garments building. When the fire brigade immediately rushed to the spot, they found smoke coming out from the premises.

In the meantime, staff of the establishment was  seen removing the material from the premises as a precautionary measure.

Though the exact cause of fire is yet to be ascertained, fire personnel has suspected short circuit behind the incident.
