The Margao fire brigade rushed to Fatorda behind the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao on Sunday even after fire engulfed dry grass.
As the fire threatened to spread to the neighbouring areas, the firemen immediately started the firefighting operation to douse the fire.
A couple of days ago, a major fire had engulfed an old closed house behind the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao. While the Margao fire brigade had immediately put off the fire, local Margao Municipal ward councillor Vitorino Tavares had suspected foul play, demanding increased vigilance by government agencies to nip rising fire incidents in the bud.
