PANAJI: Thousands of Goans and tourists alike brought in the 2019 new year with celebratory fireworks, dance, music and revelry across Goa. In many towns and villages locals also thronged churches and shrines for the mid-night services.
Although media reports are suggesting plummeting footfalls in the tourism industry, the declining numbers however did not reflect in the intensity of the celebrations on Monday-Tuesday night as parties across nightspots and hotels in Goa recorded good response.
New Year’s eve is one of the dozen days in the year that the government has notified for relaxation of sound pollution laws, allowing the hotel, club and pub sector to play amplified music beyond the usual 11 pm limit.
Several traditional New Year dances were also organized across Goa which got good response.
