The first charter flight of the 2025-26 tourism season arrived at Manohar International Airport, Mopa, in the early hours of October 2.
The flight from Novosibirsk, Russia, carried around 120 passengers, marking the official start of Goa’s tourism activities for the year.
The Department of Tourism has announced that a welcome ceremony was held at the airport at 1:40 am to receive the passengers of the season’s first charter. More Russian flights are expected this week, with UK charters to follow next.
The beach shacks have also already begun operations with 90 per cent licenses issued over a month in advance.
Meanwhile, the Tourism department has extended the deadline for submission of applications for new and renewal permissions for registration of temporary shacks and huts/cottages on private properties. The last date for submission is now October 31, providing applicants an additional month to complete the process.
