After a wait lasting 18 days and with improved weather conditions, fishing boats operating from the Cutbona fishing jetty finally ventured out in the sea on Sunday. The fishing vessels, however, adopted a cautious approach at the river Sal mouth as they ventured out in the Arabian sea. A Drishti life guard team with jet skis was stationed at the Mobor beach as a precautionary measure and to meet any eventuality as the river Sal mouth.
President of the Cutbona Boat Owners Union Savio D’Silva informed that nearly 50 per cent of the fishing vessels from Cutbona have ventured out in the sea on Sunday. He said though the navigation condition at the river Sal mouth are still hostile and adverse, the fishing vessels took abundant care to ensure the boats did not run aground.
Sources said two fishing boats, which nearly hit the sand bar, had a miraculous escape as the vessels did not run aground. Though the fishing vessel have gone out for fishing, they are expected to land at the jetty only during high tide line in view of the adverse navigation conditions and the sand bar that has surfaced at the river Sal mouth.
