Verna police have registered a case of alleged criminal breach of trust, cheating and forgery involving goods worth over Rs 93 lakh at a delivery network company warehouse located at Zuarinagar, Sancoale.
According to police, the case was registered following a complaint lodged by Atish Patil of Lead Warehouse. The complaint alleges that between May 22 and July 6, five employees, along with other unidentified persons, dishonestly manipulated the warehouse management system to misappropriate valuable stock.
The accused have been identified as Amit Uthawale, a senior executive (inventory) from Kalyan West, Thane, Maharashtra; Rishab Raj, a supervisor from Samastipur, Bihar; Vaishali Pandey, an inventory supervisor from Ahmedabad, Gujarat; Aftab, a loader; and Arif Isani, the site in-charge and assistant manager.
Police said the accused allegedly made false entries in the warehouse management system without physically storing the goods in their designated locations. They are further accused of preparing forged documents and using them as genuine, thereby misleading security personnel and facilitating the unauthorised movement of stock.
The alleged misappropriated goods include cigarettes worth Rs 68,29,172 and mobile phones worth Rs 25,08,930, taking the total value of the fraud to Rs 93,38,102.
Verna Police have registered an offence under Sections 336(2), 340(2), 318(3), 316(4) read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is being carried out by PI Anand Shirodkar of Verna Police Station under the supervision of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
