They may have contracted a dreaded disease but that did not stop five of the 28 Covid patients in Canacona taluka from going to the polling booths with all precautions and in full PPE kits to exercise their franchise to the ZP polls in two constituencies on Saturday.
According to sources, the five Covid patients who voted were from Loliem (2) and Poinguinim (1) for the Poinguinim ZP constituency polls and one each at Agonda and Khola for the Khola ZP constituency polls.
All five Covid patients arrived at their respective polling stations in full PPE during the last one hour of the polling time allotted to them and exercised their franchise.
All election staff at those polling booths, where Covid patients were listed in the electoral rolls, were suitably provided with face shields and other safety equipment while dealing with the Covid voters who had come to vote.
