Goa Children's Court has discharged five persons, including a Vasco police constable, accused in a 2013 case of assaulting a family, including their minor daughter, residing at Headland Sada in Vasco over a property dispute.
As per the FIR registered at Mormugao police station on June 1, 2013, members of Honarwarkar family including police constable Mithun Honarwarkar, Vinod, Chetan, Vidhya and Ashwini formed an unlawful assembly outside their neighbour's house and assaulted Shivanappa Gaddi, his wife Mallamma and three of his five children.
The accused were booked under Sections 143, 147, 323, 427, 504 of Indian Penal Code and Section 8 of Goa Children's Act, 2003.
Defence counsel Adv Kautuk Raikar represented the accused, who were discharged as their criminal intention could not be established at the stage of framing of charges.
