Five injured as car topples in Dabolim

Around five people, including some naval personnel, were injured in a self-accident reported at Vales Junction at Dabolim in the wee hours of Saturday.

Eyewitness said the Kerala-registered car, which was driven by a woman, moving towards Vasco, when it hit a divider along the circle and was flung on the road causing injuries to the occupants.

The injured were immediately shifted to the Chicalim Sub District Hospital and later to INS Jeevanti hospital.

When contacted, Vasco PI Kapil Nayak said police received a call about the accident at around 5.15 am.

“It is a case of self-accident and the car was fully damaged after turning turtle. The car had five occupants, three gents and two ladies, and the car was moving from Verna towards Vasco side,” said PI Nayak.

“The car dashed the divider and then the circle, before finally turning turtle. The occupants escaped with minor injuries and since we found beer bottles in the car, we have taken blood samples. We have registered a case of accident and carrying out further investigation.”

Sources said the traffic signal and circle at Vales Junction was also damaged in the accident.
